In an effort to make the whole flying experience easier and more efficient, Spirit Airlines recently launched an online check in for spirit airlines option that allows customers to skip the line at the airport and save some time as they wait to board their Spirit flights. For frequent fliers, this can be a great help, especially if you’re used to waiting in lines on your way to the gate (like I was). Using this new service takes just minutes, and once you know how it works you’ll never stand in line again!
Who can Spirit check in online?
If you’re checking in online, you can do so up to 30 minutes before your scheduled departure. If you prefer to Spirit check in on your phone or print out a boarding pass at home, that’s no problem! You can still check in three hours before takeoff. Keep in mind that it might take longer than 30 minutes if there are long lines at airport security or gates. If you haven’t checked in yet, don’t panic! You have until five minutes before your Spirit Airline Tickets departs.
What time does it open?
To avoid long check-in Spirit online lines and make your journey to your flight easier, Spirit Airlines is letting passengers Spirit check in online. You can log on as early as you want before your flight to print out a boarding pass, Spirit check in bags, and save your seat. To use it, just search for flights that are eligible for online check-in and follow their easy steps. Passengers will be able to head straight to security or their gate after checking in online—and there’s no additional charge for using it! Before you know it, you’ll be strolling onto your plane.
What are the important things to know about checking in?
Checking in for your flight with Spirit Airlines is surprisingly simple. You’ll need to bring a government-issued photo ID and your luggage will be placed in a separate security queue if you have any bags, but otherwise it can be done on a fairly quick turnaround. Keep in mind that because of limited overhead space on their aircraft, they don’t allow baggage that exceeds 62 linear inches or weigh more than 50 pounds, so check their Spirits Customer Service before going through with checking anything larger than that or weighing more than that. Also be sure to check for any special instructions for checking multiple bags at once and make sure you arrive at least one hour prior to departure time.
Will there be wait times?
Because check-in Spirit flights counters are closed and we don’t want you to miss your flight, we recommend waiting until 45 minutes prior to your departure time to check in online. If you’re checking bags, be sure to get to your airport at least 2 hours prior to your flight time. You can do so by printing out a baggage claim slip at home. If you checked bags, make sure that you attach one copy of your itinerary (boarding pass) and Spirit Airlines baggage claim receipt to each bag before dropping them off. When checking in on mobile devices, please ensure that they have adequate battery life as an outlet may not be readily available once inside security screening areas.
Things To Know About The Mobile App
The first thing to know about checking in with your mobile device is that it’s probably not available for every flight on every route. Generally, you’ll only be able to use it when you can bring two pieces of checked luggage (or one piece and a carry-on). The second thing to know is that right now, you can check in for only three flights at a time. If there are more than three people traveling on your itinerary—say, if you booked a Spirit flight for someone else who’s flying Spirit Airlines into town—you may have to do some advance planning.
