Sockets on items are very important in Diablo 2 Resurrected. These sockets allow us to add various gems and runes to d2r ladder items. This will give our item an extra effect.
So we need to add sockets for d2r items. There are two ways to add sockets in Diablo 2 Resurrected. The first method requires the completion of the “Siege on Harrogath” quest, and the second method requires the use of the Horadric Cube. Below we will introduce to you how to add sockets to items in Diablo 2 Resurrected.
Add Sockets by completing the Larzuk Quest
To add Sockets to items in Diablo 2 Resurrected, this can be done by completing a quest called “Siege on Harrogath” for Larzuk. Larzuk is an NPC in the town in Act 5.
How to complete the Siege on Harrogath quest
Go to the Bloody Foothills, find Overseer Shenk, kill him, and report to Larzuk. Then he will offer to buy something for you. He can only do it once per difficulty level, which means each character can only do it three times. The number of slots Larzuk creates on an item depends on the item’s scarcity and level.
Add the number of Sockets
- Unique, Rare, Set items: one socket
- Magic items: one to two sockets, at random
- White and Gray items: Maximum amount of sockets based on item level.
This means you have to make monsters tall enough to drop white items. The number of sockets an item can get depends entirely on the item’s level. The level of the item is completely determined by the level of the monster that dropped the item. So for most of the 4+ slot weapons and shields created by Larzuk, you’ll have to wait until the first stage of Nightmare difficulty. For 4 socket shields, you will have to wait until the difficulty of hell makes the white monarch shield drop.
Adding Sockets with Horadric Cube
To use the Horadric Cube in Diablo 2 Resurrected to add sockets, you first need to get it. You can get the Horadric Cube in a mission in Act 2. You must defeat the Wild Blood Witch to get her chest. Once you’ve got the cube, roll a random number of sockets on an item as listed below. Remember, this only applies to white gear.
- Body Armor: Tal Rune + Thul Rune + Perfect Topaz + Normal Armor
- Helm: Ral Rune + Thul Rune + Perfect Sapphire + Normal Helm
- Shield: Tal Rune + Amn Rune + Perfect Ruby + Normal Shield
- Weapon: Amn Rune + Perfect Amethyst + Normal Weapon
For a level 30 crystal sword, it can have up to 4 sockets. This means you have a 1/6 chance of getting 1 socket, a 1/6 chance of getting 2 sockets, a 1/6 chance of getting 3 sockets, and a 3/6 chance of getting 4 sockets. With 6 sockets, you have the same chance of getting any number of sockets.
Go home.
