My oven is used almost every day so grease and food build up quickly. Yuck! Then my kitchen smells and I know that it is time to clean it. Here are some of the tips I use to clean my oven. These tips can be used regardless of whether your oven is self cleaning or not.
OVEN
Once the oven has cooled, combine one packet of Kool-Aid and one cup of water. Use a rag to dip the mixture into the water and wipe the oven’s interior. The Kool-Aid’s citric acid cuts through grease and grime. Yikes …. I wonder what it does for us when we consume it! !
Turn off the oven and heat the oven to 150°F. Spray ‘n Wash the interior walls and let it rest for five minutes. Use a soft cloth to clean the surface.
Cover any grease spillage in the oven with Morton Salt immediately. Use a rag to clean the oven after it has cooled.
After your oven has cooled, wipe the interior with a damp rag. Let it sit overnight before you sprinkle baking soda on the surface. The next day, wipe it clean.
Spread a large sheet of aluminum foil below the pan to catch drips.
You can quickly remove the lingering smell from oven cleaners by wiping the interior with a damp cloth soaked in vinegar. Once the oven has cooled down, you can clean it with a wet cloth.
OVEN RACKS
Oven racks can be cleaned by taking them outside to be sprayed with Oven Cleaner. Allow them to rest for several hours. Use a water hose to spray them and then wash them with soapy water.
OVEN VENT
Clean the fan vent above the stove by removing the filter and running it through the dishwasher with Cascade dish detergent.
Clean grease and grime off an oven range hood by using Vaseline. After letting it sit for five to ten minutes, use a soft, dry cloth to wipe it clean.
STOVE TOP
Two teaspoons of Nestea Iced Tea Mix and one cup of hot water will dissolve the grease and grime. Use the solution to dampen a sponge and then wipe the stovetop clean. The key is the tannic acid in the tea!
To remove grease and grime from your stovetop, use Shout. Let the Shout solution sit for five minutes in the area. Then, use a soft cloth to wipe it clean. Avoid spraying the burners with the spray.
DRIP PANS
Fill the kitchen sink with hot water, 1/2 cup Cascade Gel and wash stove drip pans. Allow them to soak for at least one hour. Rinse.
You can also replace the Cascade Gel by four Efferdent denture cleaning tablets.
KNOBS
Turn off the stove. You can clean the knobs by removing them and soaking in 2 cups of hot water with 1 teaspoon Tide laundry detergent. Use soap and water to wash.
These tips are my hope!
To avoid any fires or burns, clean the stove and oven carefully. Wait until the oven is completely cooled before wiping down the interior. These tips are for your personal use only.
